Granite and quartz can both produce a durable, attractive kitchen. The better choice depends on whether you value natural variation or manufactured consistency, along with the care and performance you expect.

Granite is natural stone

Every slab has unique color, movement, and mineral characteristics. Granite offers strong natural heat resistance and typically requires sealing based on the specific stone and finish.

Quartz is manufactured

Quartz is made with mineral particles, pigments, and resin. It offers more consistent patterns, is nonporous, and does not require sealing. High heat can damage the resin, so trivets are important.

Appearance and seams

Granite movement can make seams more visible, especially in L-shaped layouts. Quartz patterns are often more predictable, but large printed veins still require layout and seam planning.

Where to compare them

View quartz and other manufactured surfaces at Pacific Stone. For granite, Pacific Stone will direct you to a larger slab house with current natural-stone inventory and help coordinate the selection.

Choose for the way you live

Consider heat, sealing, pattern consistency, daily maintenance, available slabs, fabrication details, and installed price. Neither material is universally better.

Compare your options in person.

Visit Pacific Stone in Temecula or San Clemente to compare cabinets, manufactured surfaces, and finished displays. If your project uses natural stone, we will help coordinate full-slab viewing at a larger slab house.
